Our school, Millen Primary is 50 years old this year in 2006 and we plan to celebrate!

Let me tell you a bit about Millen Primary School. We’re located in East Victoria Park and have approximately 230 students who reflect the diverse and rich background of our local community.

Like our school, our P&C Association is a small, but strong and enthusiastic group. We are committed to enriching the experience of our students by providing assistance through fundraising which supports our physical environment, including computer enhancements, installation of air conditioning and improvements to our library. We also work in partnership with the school by providing funds which yield benefits that are not so easily measured such as excursions, school camps, storytelling, rock eisteddfods, Edudance and many others. Through our School Council we guide the direction of Millen now and in the future.

We, like the students, teachers and families of Millen are proud of our school and couldn’t let the opportunity to recognize our 50th birthday pass unnoticed. A Community Fete is to be held at the school on Sunday 19th November from 11am - 4pm. This will be the most public celebration of our 50th birthday. It also represents a fantastic opportunity for our P&C Association to raise funds for our school and showcase Millen in a mammoth community event.

A Reunion event is being held the evening prior to the Fete to allow past students and staff the opportunity to celebrate, reconnect and reminisce. Of course we'd love to see you all attend the fete aswell, but the reunion is a special event, just for our past Millenites.

The last of our big three events is a special one for all of our present students. An official ceremony will be held at the school in the week preceeding the Fete, at which a time capsule will be buried - and well signposted!! This official ceremony will culminate in what all primary kids think is important for a birthday, a very large chocolate cake!
